Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I flush my coolant?

Every 30,000–50,000 miles or every 2 years, whichever comes first. Diesel engines with EGR systems should be on the shorter end of that range.

Why does my 6.0 Powerstroke keep having cooling system issues?

The 6.0 PS coolant system feeds both the oil cooler and EGR cooler. Degraded coolant leaves deposits that restrict flow, causing both to overheat and fail. Clean coolant and a coolant filter kit are the best prevention.

Can I just add water to top off my coolant?

In an emergency, yes. But water dilutes antifreeze concentration, lowers the boiling point, and provides no corrosion protection. Correct it with a proper flush as soon as possible.

What color should my coolant be?

Depends on the type — Motorcraft Gold is yellow, Dexcool is orange, standard is green. What matters: it should be clear, not murky or brown. Discolored coolant is overdue for a flush.

Do you work on all makes and models?

Yes — gas and diesel, old and new. Hillsboro, Beaverton, and Portland metro.
