Schedule an HVAC InspectionOnce a year, ideally before the season you rely on it most. In Oregon, that means a heater/defroster check in September–October and an AC check in May. Most HVAC issues develop gradually over a full season.
Most likely low refrigerant from normal annual loss, a failing compressor clutch, or a clogged cabin air filter reducing airflow. We’ll test refrigerant pressure and component function to determine which one.
Some morning fogging is normal from interior moisture. If it’s persistent, heavy, or accompanied by a sweet smell from the vents, it may indicate a heater core leak. The heater core circulates hot coolant behind the dash — a small internal leak releases coolant as vapor that condenses on the glass.
A failed blower motor resistor. The resistor controls fan speed at lower settings. When it fails, only the full-power circuit remains functional. It’s a relatively inexpensive repair on most vehicles.
