Pad measurement and replacement with the right friction material for how you drive.
Schedule a Brake InspectionEvery 12,000 miles, or at every tire rotation. If you tow regularly, pull a trailer, or drive in the mountains frequently, inspect every 6,000–10,000 miles. Don’t wait for the squeal.
Usually yes — the wear indicator tab is designed to squeal at approximately 3mm of remaining friction material. Occasional squeal after rain or sitting overnight is normal and usually clears after a few stops. Consistent squeal while braking is not.
Semi-metallic pads handle heat better, making them preferred for towing and heavy-duty use. Ceramic pads are quieter, produce less dust, and are easier on rotors — better for daily commuting. For trucks that do both, we can advise on the right balance.
Sometimes. If rotors are above minimum thickness, smooth, and undamaged, they can stay. If they’re grooved, below minimum, or heat-cracked, installing new pads on bad rotors guarantees a noise complaint and accelerated pad wear. We measure before recommending.
