Conventional blades use a metal frame with multiple pressure points along the rubber. Beam blades are frameless — a single curved piece of rubber that presses uniformly against the windshield. Beam blades perform better on curved modern windshields and won’t collect ice and debris in the frame. Most modern trucks and SUVs are best served by beam or hybrid blades.
