Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have my battery tested?

Once a year — especially before winter. If your battery is 3+ years old, test it at every oil change. Cold Oregon mornings expose borderline batteries that perform fine in summer.

My truck starts fine. Why test the battery?

A battery can be at 70% capacity and still start your truck on a warm day. It’s the cold start at 30°F when the engine is demanding peak cranking amps that exposes a failing battery. By then, you’re usually on the side of the road.

My diesel has two batteries. Do I need to test both?

Yes — both batteries must be tested individually. One weak battery compromises the entire dual battery system. If one is failing, both should typically be replaced at the same time to avoid an immediate second failure.

Can a new battery fail right away?

Yes, in rare cases — manufacturing defects, improper installation, or a failing alternator that overcharges the battery can damage a new unit quickly. This is why we also check the charging system during any battery service.

Do you service all makes and models?

Yes — gas and diesel, daily drivers and built trucks. Hillsboro, Beaverton, and Portland metro.
