Frequently Asked Questions

Can I just clean the terminals myself?

Yes — baking soda and water, a wire brush, gloves, and eye protection. The issue is that most DIY cleaning doesn’t include a cable integrity check or proper protection treatment after cleaning. If you’re seeing corrosion, have the battery tested at the same time.

Why does the white buildup keep coming back?

If corrosion returns quickly after cleaning, the battery is likely off-gassing excessively — a sign of internal degradation, overcharging, or a crack in the battery case. Anti-corrosion protection helps slow it down, but the battery itself needs to be evaluated.

Will cleaning the terminals fix my slow crank?

It might — if heavy corrosion is the primary cause of resistance. But a slow crank can also indicate a failing battery, weak alternator, or starter issue. We test the battery and charging system alongside any terminal service.

Are AGM batteries better at preventing corrosion?

Yes. AGM batteries produce significantly less off-gassing than flooded lead-acid batteries, which means less corrosion over time. If your truck has flooded batteries and you’re dealing with chronic corrosion, switching to AGM is worth the conversation.

Do you service all makes and models?

Yes — all vehicles, gas and diesel. Hillsboro, Beaverton, and Portland metro.
